Insert/Import video into the post ​

Monst has two ways to show a video: a Video box on each post, and the YouTube video shortcode that you can place inside any page or post.

Add a video to a post ​

Go to Admin -> Blog -> Posts and edit (or create) a post.

Below the content, the Video box has two tabs:

  • Get Video from URL: paste the embed address of the video in Video Embed URL. The theme puts this address in a player frame at the top of the post, so use the embed address, for example https://www.youtube.com/embed/VIDEO_ID for YouTube or https://player.vimeo.com/video/VIDEO_ID for Vimeo (a normal watch link is refused by these sites inside a frame). The Video Embed Code field is stored with the post but the theme does not use it.
  • Upload Video (.mp4): upload a video file from the Media library. It is played with the browser player.

A post with a video always uses the default post layout.

Embed a video in the content ​

Use the YouTube video shortcode (see Short code): in the editor click UI Blocks, pick YouTube video, paste the YouTube URL and click Add. You can also embed videos from YouTube,Vimeo with the Iframe Embed shortcode.

Firstly, you will need to find the embed code for your video. We provide instructions for the most popular video vendors such as YouTube,Vimeo. If you need assistance finding the embed code for another video vendor, contact them directly for assistance.

Finding the embed code on YouTube

  • Go to YouTube.
  • Navigate to the video you wish to embed.
  • Click the Share link below the video, then click the Embed link.
  • The embed link will be highlighted in blue. You will need to copy this link in order to add it to your page.

Finding the embedded code on Vimeo:

  • Go to Vimeo.
  • Navigate to the video you wish to embed.
  • Click the Share button, in the top right corner of your video.
  • A pop-up will appear with the embed link information. You will need to copy only the <iframe> portion of the embed link in order to add it to your page.
