Short code
Shortcodes are the building blocks of the UltraNews home pages. You add them to the content of a page (or a post) and set their options in a form.
Go to Admin -> Pages, open a page, and in the editor click the UI Blocks button. Pick a shortcode in the list and click Use. Fill in the form and click Add.
The editor then shows the shortcode as a gray block. Click it to edit the options again. Save the page to publish the change.
The list contains these UltraNews shortcodes:

The list also shows blocks of the CMS core and its plugins: Ads (see Ads), AI writer (see AI Writer), Audio, Blog posts, Custom HTML, Google Maps, Iframe Embed, Media and YouTube video (see Insert video).
The demo pages are in Admin -> Pages. Open one to see how its shortcodes are set (see Pages and homepage).
Posts slider
A slider of posts. The form has a Title, a Description, Filter By (Featured Posts, Recent Posts or Post Ids, where you type the ids of the posts), a Limit and the Style.
Setting
Style 1
Large post with a picture on the right, and arrows to move to the next one. Used on Homepage.
Style 2
A titled row of posts with a description. It is used on the demo for "Editor's picked" (Homepage, Home 2 and Home 3).
Style 3
A full-width picture with the title on top and a strip of thumbnails to pick another post. Used on Home 2.
Style 4
Four tall pictures with the category and title on top. Used on Home 3.
Posts Grid
A grid of posts with a title and a subtitle.

Setting
Categories Ids and Categories Ids Exclude take category ids separated by commas, Post Ids and Post Ids Exclude take post ids. Order by is Updated or Views, and Order is ascending or descending. The demo uses it on Home 3 with Views and descending order, so it shows the most viewed posts.
Posts listing
The full list of posts of the site, with pagination and the widgets of the primary sidebar. The Layout field has 3 values and Limit is the number of posts per page (12 when empty). The demo pages Blog, Category List, Category grid and Category metro are made of this block alone.

Recent posts
A list of the recent posts on the left, and on the right a Follow Us box, a box with three tabs (Popular, Feature and Comments) and an optional ad. The form has two tabs.

- Title, Sub title and Number of posts: the heading and the number of posts of the list.
- Background style: Not set or Background White.

- Show Follow Us section: shows the social buttons of Theme options.
- Number of posts in each tab: the length of the three tabs.
- Ads location: shows an ad of the Ads plugin below the tabs (see Ads).
Categories tab posts
Posts in tabs, one tab per category you choose, with the same right column as Recent posts.

Pick the categories in Get posts from Categories (hold Ctrl or Cmd to select several). Number of posts is the number of posts of each tab.

Posts Collection
The posts of a collection, in a row. Collections are made in Admin -> Blog -> Post collections (see Posts Collection).

Choose the collection in Get posts Post Collection and the Number of posts to show. The block shows nothing when the collection is not published.
Video posts
The posts that have the Video format: one large post and a grid of smaller ones, with a play button on each. See Insert video to make a video post.

Limit is the number of posts (7 when empty). Tick Is slider to show the posts in a slider instead.
Most comments
The posts with the most comments, in a slider. It needs the comments to be on (see Comments).

Popular categories
A row of category labels with a picture. It shows your featured categories: edit a category in Admin -> Blog -> Categories, tick Is featured and set its Image. Limit is the number of categories (10 when empty). The demo does not use this block, so the demo categories are not featured.

The pictures of one gallery, in a grid. A click on a picture opens it in a lightbox.

Recently viewed posts
The posts the visitor read before, from a cookie of the browser. Nothing is shown when the visitor has not read any post. The demo shows it under each post when Enable Recently viewed posts? is on in Theme options. It is added by the Pro Posts plugin (see Pro Posts).

Contact form
The contact form of the Contact plugin: name, email, phone and message, plus the "I agree to the Terms and Privacy Policy" checkbox. The checkbox is shown while Show Terms and Privacy Policy checkbox is on in Admin -> Settings -> Contact (the default); visitors must tick it to send the form. If you set the Terms and Privacy Policy URL in the theme options, the checkbox text links to it. The messages arrive in Admin -> Contact -> Contacts (see Contact Form).
